Tuned Liquid Damper
A Tuned Liquid Damper is a unique way to reduce the vibration of slender structures. Flow Engineering has more than 20 years of experience in the calculation, design and installation of Tuned Liquid Dampers and Tuned Mass Dampers. Our systems are applicable to flagpoles, chimneys and other slender structures. Our systems have proved themselves in practice and can not only be used for the reduction of vibration, but also to prevent fatigue damage.
- Preventing dynamic problems at the design phase
- Analyzing and solving vibration problems in existing structures
A Tuned Liquid Damper or a Tuned Mass Damper: the differences
A Tuned Liquid Damper is less commonly used than a Tuned Mass Damper for the reduction of vibration of slender structures. This damper is a container that is partially filled with a mixture of water and glycol. It has no moving parts; the damping is provided by the sloshing of the internal liquid. The Tuned Mass Damper, in contrast to the Tuned Liquid Damper, contains a mass that can oscillate horizontally or vertically and will oscillate in the opposite direction of the cross-wind loads or waves.
